WVU Sierra Student Coalition

The WVU Sierra Student Coalition is a subsidiary of the Sierra Club, a national environmental organization whose mission is to "Explore, enjoy, and protect the wild places of the Earth". The Coalition is a large, active community of environmentally conscious students primarily engaged in wilderness outings, volunteerism, and campaigns to promote sustainability on campus.

Solar Energy Campaign

The Coalition is leading an advocacy campaign for WVU to install a 50 kW Solar Array on Campus by the end of the 2017-2018 Academic Year.

Styrofoam-Free Campus

The Coalition is advocating for the University to replace styrofoam and other polystyrene foam carryout containers with biodegradable alternatives, with the ultimate goal of making WVU a styrofoam-free campus.
